US does operate *?30?* ABM-s (anti-ballistic missile) but their success rate is 50% and that is in scenarios where the crew knew that an excercise would be happening and for each ICBM, 2 interceptors are deployed. 30 divided by 2 is 15. In a perfect scenario US could defend itself from 15 ICBM-s. And take into the consideration that they are located in Alaska and California. Russian ICBM-s would be coming from the north. And Russians have wayy more ICBM-s than US has interceptors.
