Anybody ever sharpen knives with steel file? I used it to file out teeth from a tacticool knife, want to know if I can effectively sharpen the knife with it too.
Never used a steel file, only a whet stone
Not sure if thats sustainable in a SHTF scenario due to how much water you need when sharpening knives. I imagine a grindstone would have the same effect in a cruder implementation
Thanks, guess I'll get something from Amazon, any recommendations?
it was a gift so i cant check my order history
Cool I'll probably go for a cheaper brand but get a few more.
best of luck, there are some useful vids on youtube on how to use them
Thanks, when it comes I should have already figured out how to use it.
you wont if you dont already. thats a good rule of thumb

I think a lot of people tend to neglect that their kids, wife/husband, and other live-in partner should have a BOB or an INCH bag, not to mention training, weapons, and provisions
Got a cheap knife sharpener, $7, would it work as well as a whetstone.
?
What tests should I do to test sharpness of a pocket folder?
paper cutting test. Hold a piece of paper and try to let the blade cut through it
and absolutely not. I assume it is one of those v sharpeners? those will fuck your blade after extended use
It cuts paper fine and it's a cheap folder, I'll get a whetstome when my local hardware store stocks them again. Yes a v sharpener.
Is Wranglerstar on YT good on tools? I like his stuff but want to get 2nd opinion
Look nice how do you sharpen blades? Whetstone? I'm going to get one but only have a sharpener rn
Sandpaper grains from 200-2000
Then a metal polish then whetstone
I’ll post my axe broadsword and other swords another time

It'll sap your body heat surprisingly fast

They're good but they're loud and tear easily
Army wool blankets are killer though, but suck for hot summers
