Ahhhh. Personally I’d build a muzzleloader. Hook up a pipe to a trigger nozzle. Put a patch down the barrel, then fill with whatever you’re firing. BBs would work fine as a deterrent, but a thinner pipe with a nail attached to a duct tape cone (basically a big blowgun dart) would be more effective for defense.

I disagree. With more projectiles being pushed down the barrel, they’ll move slower even if padded by a patch. Plus they’ll scatter and give a greater chance of hitting.

I bet this would work. .239 interior diameter would fit a .22BB or pellet just fine.
