I mean I worked for disaster relief for a bit. I'd tow out generators and fuel for cell towers. So there are methods to keep things going.
That's what I'm saying. If your buying water it's like your prepping for a full on collapse of society
Yes
Yes
Yes.
Yes
Yes
also in my case hurricanes are a regular thing and I could become surrounded by piss and shit water at any moment because of flooding
have fun trying to drink that if you have zero water actually stored prior
filters and a boiler
Yeah sewage contamination in the drinking supply is common during flooding
Even where I lived in California
Back in 2013 in CA during the bad drought our well dried up
Supply chains were decent but I had to shower with bottled water or surf every morning and bathe in the ocean
It the supply chains weren't good we would of be fucked
But of course the farmers were fine since they just drilled their wells deeper
Fucking wineries
It was either getting too much rain and shit getting in the water or no water
And inbetween was just the thought of what happens next
If you can get into beekeeping it would be an invaluable skill to have when you need it. https://youtu.be/9EIyS7To5Vw https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLKhDkilF5o6_pFucn5JHd6xy7muHLK6pS
I've never kept bees, but there's a bee farm(?) down the road from me. My whole yard shimmers like water all summer from the bees all over the clover.
I never have to worry about any of my fruits getting pollinated.
the reason i include water in my preps is that i live in a coastal desert. the only freshwater source is a river in about 10 km distance and this one is highly contaminated (and in a shtf scenario u bet everybody gonna go there)
I've got a small pond, 7000ish gallons
300yds through the woods is a large 1000000+ gallon pond.
Three large lakes within 20 minutes of me as well.
tfw nearest (public) pond is like 3 miles from me

Now that I am looking at a map I guess I am 200ft away from the ocean
But that water is all flowing through ship yards
Kind of a brakish(salt water mixed with fresh water) river
Just looked it up
"EPA mentions the (insert my local rivers name here) River was singled out as one of the most highly polluted bodies of water in the entire Bay watershed and as of 2011 remains one of the most polluted rivers in the United States"
I used to work on a ship and stand watch in port. We would be required to report floating oils/shimmery substances on top of the water since they were a fire hazard. There was never a time when that wasn't present.
