I have absolutely zero respect for your beliefs, so I was not going to be respectful about them. Sorry boss

Hello
I believe that there is a god
Jesus Christ
^
Agreed
Thank you
I respect that
You don't need to believe in God, but don't fucking batter others for it.
👀
can I better you for being a believer in the wrong god then?
No, you should accept we all have different ideas
and interpretations
@Allan_Cruz what if said ideas are bad for your mental health? and your kids'?
An example? I wouldn't follow them then
@Allan_Cruz any belief system in a God makes you uncritical and gullible.
Most of them base their belief on "personal experience" that might as well be as good evidence as exists for ghosts. They're gonna live in a delusional state similar to that of schizophrenics. Paranoid, constantly.
If that's what you think, lol
that's the reality
I have really, really, tried to find a benefit in religion
I can't find any
whatever exists can be found elsewhere, without side effects
Well, I guess that's just you. I'm not a very religious person myself yet I respect all religions and their different beliefs. And oh, I believe in science. Religious people are the same too. You can believe in a supernatural being but still be educated on the basic facts. This won't apply to all of them but many.
if you just look at the face of the issue, it doesn't appear like there should be a conflict. The supernatural is "above" or "seperate" from the natural realm afterall. Or so they claim.
So it shouldn't impact what they believe about the natural realm, lest they be in direct conflict, right? Like creationists.
But the issue is it does. Our knowledge of the natural world doesn't just get zapped into our brains as truth. We have to seek it out, be convinced by arguments, etc. We have to use what is called an empirical framework, we need a **reliable method for determining what is true**. And the fact is, if you believe in anything supernatural, for any reason whatsoever. You used an unreliable method for determining what is true. And you are undoubtedly going to use that same unreliable method for gaining knowledge in the real world, and thus, you are going to end up believing falsehoods, what we would otherwise call a person in a state of delusion.
Yes, religious people may have a different insight into what is true and what is not and will be skeptical. I guess that's one of the downsides with certain belieifs, it's ok to seek a purpose for the meaning of life and existence but at the same time you can misinform yourself and not believe in things we concldued centuries ago.
