isn’t it made specifically to let moisture out??
A dedicated jungle or desert boot always cools and dries faster
No goretex is just a semi permeable membrane
i see
Goretex is just teflon stretched really fast and it has holes in it the holes are smaller than water droplets can get through but much bigger than water vapor
It doesn't wick water or anything
Like desert boots
Because wicking stuff works both ways
Socks make the difference when it comes to rain and shit in terms of blisters
so they’re “don’t focus on not getting wet, focus on getting dry faster” thing is bullshit 😔
their*
If you spend any amount of time in the rain your feet will be wet regardless of boot material so the boots have to fit well, and support well. Ideally dry fast so when it stops raining and being shit your feet go back to being fine
are waterproof socks viable?
Waterproof socks....
What
Like overboots?
no there’s like
His pount kyu is nothing is absolutely water proof
And waterproofing shouldn't be the main focus, it should be fitx comfort, versatility
Because those alleviate a wet foot
Oh that's what you meant. If you want your feet to turn to mush then sure
Merino wool socks are literally the only sock option.
hm ok
And def merino
This man knows what he is talking about
Goretex is good for winter boots
Winter doesn't always mean Canadian blasted wasteland moonscape cold
Sometimes it's wet
You don't want wet shit and wet boot from stepping in a puddle then temo drops
yeah it gets real bad here
And you lose your foot
We have bipolar weather
Due to the altitude and mountains
So like snow can start melting the same day or the next and it’s always muddy as shit
It just snowed last week
The instant it's reliably above ~10C I would always switch to a dry weather boot
Goretex is still fine in colder temps like that but it's just more comfortable
so in conclusion, next boot purchase will not be goretex boot
It's a hard call
Ultra lite hikers swear by goretex boots
