An old acquaintance related a story to me of a "Rich" friends birthday party. His dad was a business man, before the fall of the union. This was probably in the early 80's. They had a table of 10 children split 2 snickers bars, and my acquaintance never forgot how special that was to him.

I too will never forget that story, so simple but so effective of a lesson on communism.

The northern areas are impeccably clean, for the most part. Much like the Northern states. It is true that anywhere with low population can say the same, however the level of safety in Canada is far greater. There are very few horror stories here of hikers being murdered etc. There isn't crazy population centers on all sides of you cranking out insane people. Weird point to make but ... moving on. There is ZERO fear of suffering a major injury and losing everything.
