Poor fucks
That’s called OCS, and it’s easier but also you get last pick of jobs
So even studs get fucked over
I went to BOLC with some square jawed GI Joes that wanted infantry out of OCS and ended up ordnance (maintenance in an FSC)
Rip
We had an NCO PCS up to Wainwright with five kids then told he was deploying like two weeks out from the date, didnt even run him through RFI or nothin
yikes
Army really does some mfs dirty
what is it with people and having more then 3 kids
like damn calm down
Another guy got fucked out of deployment in my platoon because he had a pending investigation that was dormant they decided to open like five days before we left
Fucking JAG
Third option you may want to look into is called SMP
You enlist in the guard as infantry, do OSUT, then also do ROTC while they pay for your college
More money than traditional ROTC
Do you still do your drill weekends with the NG?
They do
Ah
But wear cadet dot
I'm assuming they get all the shit a normal officer does then
A lot of them will wear their enlisted rank not to get bullied, but you just find a place to drill near your uni
My cousin did that. But I can’t enlist without parent consent and they won’t sign
Makes sense
My PL now did that route but with Cav scout instead, said it was a great road and got some enlisted experience too
Well my parents won’t sign the papers.
Got alot of options elite
Wait till you're 18 then?
Or trying to get out of the house?
Get out. So college is the only real option for the next 2 years right now
Why won’t your parents consent?
If you’re joining the army anyway it’s literally just free money and a good use of your summer to do OSUT
And you can get a handle on how stuff works by drilling with a unit
They don’t want me enlisted. They told me that from the minute I considered joining
You’re not /really/ enlisted
It’s through SMP, so you enlist but you’re in college and working with ROTC until you commission
As well as your unit
You’re like a shared child between the two
Can’t deploy
Lol yeah. But it’s still a long shot. And they don’t care ab money. As long as I’m not the disappointment of the family
Either you’re interpreting your family’s advice weirdly or your family is weird
Seems off to tell someone they’re a disappointment/will be one
Well in my fam the oldest male has always gone in since ww2 Apparently
