Well there wouldn't have been fighting, just murders.

2018-11-09 20:04:01 UTC

probably less death overall

2018-11-09 20:04:50 UTC

I would prefer a thousand casualties of honorable warfare than a single murder.

2018-11-09 20:05:23 UTC

well good luck finding a thousand people who agree with you

2018-11-09 20:05:45 UTC

but if they dont you can always kill them in honorable combat

2018-11-09 20:06:03 UTC

I was about to say. War is never honorable when you get down to the gritty man-to-man

2018-11-09 20:06:03 UTC

honourable combat does not exist anymore

2018-11-09 20:06:13 UTC

and never really has

2018-11-09 20:06:21 UTC

just people trying to survive by any means necessary

2018-11-09 20:06:24 UTC

war is messy and doesnt have any winners

2018-11-09 20:06:25 UTC

A soldier has an expectation that his life is at risk on the battlefield.

2018-11-09 20:06:46 UTC

His death does not have an equivalence to that of a civilian shot in his bed.

2018-11-09 20:07:08 UTC

there is no honor in war or killing someone

2018-11-09 20:07:20 UTC

I respectfully disagree.

2018-11-09 20:07:29 UTC

"Veteran: One who signed a blank check to his country for his limb, life and soul but survived."

2018-11-09 20:07:31 UTC

there is honor in besting someone physically like there is honor in besting someone mentally

2018-11-09 20:07:37 UTC

but war isnt fair

2018-11-09 20:07:43 UTC

and it will never be

2018-11-09 20:07:57 UTC

those gooks that are currently getting bombed the shit out of them?

2018-11-09 20:08:02 UTC

Yes, anyone who says war is fair is a fool.

2018-11-09 20:08:09 UTC

nothing honourable about that

2018-11-09 20:08:38 UTC

If you have 100 thousand men to their 10 thousand, you don't have 90 percent of your forces sit at home to keep things 'fair'.

2018-11-09 20:09:05 UTC

it would be the honorable thing to do so but it doesnt happen

2018-11-09 20:09:29 UTC

Says who?

2018-11-09 20:09:35 UTC

You? Why?

2018-11-09 20:09:52 UTC

sounds like pretty much the definition of honor to me

2018-11-09 20:09:53 UTC

when you enter in a war your point is to win right?

2018-11-09 20:10:04 UTC

doing X with fairness

2018-11-09 20:10:38 UTC

and to win the war will you leave 90% of your army? no you wont because winning and surviving is more important than honor

2018-11-09 20:11:17 UTC

Not if your goal is be honorable in the win. Though that rarely is the goal.

2018-11-09 20:11:19 UTC

So, you do not recognize honorable conduct or rules of war in warfare?

2018-11-09 20:11:54 UTC

can I post this here

2018-11-09 20:12:04 UTC

Self evidently.

2018-11-09 20:12:19 UTC

you can handle opponents with honor after you have won like respecting prisonors etc but winning? noone takes compromises for honor at the cost of winning

2018-11-09 20:12:25 UTC

and you wouldnt either

2018-11-09 20:12:39 UTC

Speak for yourself, please.

2018-11-09 20:13:07 UTC

You may decide genociding a nation is a proper victory, but I do not.

2018-11-09 20:13:20 UTC

can you quote me on genocide?

2018-11-09 20:13:38 UTC

Rules of war, such as not firing on unarmed combatants is part of honor. People do comply to that even when trying to win.

2018-11-09 20:14:13 UTC

Reason why there are POWs. If you wanted to win, it would be more effecient just to kill them.
