it depends on the technology but yeah
They don't do that kind of R&D
they can reach way past the commercial market if they are trying to do one specific thing and have money
they have money
also no they do in fact do plenty of black projects
yeah we have tons of money unaccounted for in the pentagon
The private sector also has money
associated with black projects
The applications for that kind of power system go far beyond military uses
well yeah but the private sector has pretty much no use for 800 joules in 10 nanoseconds
or whatever
Dude
literally what would they use that for
most private sector research done for that type of weaponry is contracted by the DOD
There are so many private sector use cases
civilian stuff tends to move relatively slowly
Manufacturing processes for one
because that generally costs less and does the same job
well yeah but not that fast
you want instantaneous burst of enough energy to kill some shit
true that aspect is ineffecient
but you will also note things like
amazon just makes little wheeled roomba looking warehouse robots
instead of powered exoskeletons
because they have very different needs
plus people can't buy that shit
but governments can
when it comes to hoisting a lot of weight
some monotasked robot is oftentimes a lot cheaper in this climate
because nobody has a good solution for multipurpose
you don't have to pay a robot lol
and if your monotasked robot can be kept busy at all times
just gotta pay for upkeep
then there is no waste in it not being multipurpose
there is no long stretch of it doing nothing
where you say
boy it sure would be nice if it could be doing something else
while its waiting
the common infantryman on the other hand
one day they are building things, the next they are killing people
