so its sortof like yes they know to demand everything that goes onto the machine
so people haven't been able to catch up
but their ability to evaluate that
is lacking
yeah thats the main issue
things are moving way too fast for the military
they have kindof just been going along for centuries now
then suddenly they are in this like
psychadelic horror show
and they just
dont even know whats going on
once they go through the paperwork to adopt new tech, by the time it's finished there is already something twice as advanced out there
if not more so
its not that they are fundamentally not capable in terms of hardware
they arent going to get massacred per se
but its getting way ahead of them in some ways
some military computers are running on VERY outdated OS and using some sketchy fucking protocols
well
yes ill just uniequivocally agree
ive seen an f-18 MFD on youtube
are you joking me mate
lmao
I do like that they try to create internal OS though
doing that prevents attackers from easily discovering exploits
its true
its also relatively simple so its not like total horror show in terms of security
you dont have like USB peripherals that just execute arbitrary code under the right conditions
it's just hard for them to do it right because a lot of people that are on those teams aren't familiar with how to create newer systems
wont deny that
hardware is no problem for them
they have engineers for days
but software is a weak spot
tech jobs are hard to get without a lot of work experience
so by the time they are qualified for those positions, their education is outdated
yeah
tech is eating its own tail quite a lot at the moment
'well its expensive to take in new guys'
'better only hire experienced people'
'oh god there are no experienced workers'
'HOLD THE LINE WE WILL NEVER HIRE A GRADUATE'
