It looks like an edutainment game

Most people I've talked to said that it was the big box that got them to rent it to begin with

And the size of the box leads you to believe there's a big stupid playskool-like peripheral inside.

And as a kid, alone in the rental store

You assume "Am I gonna have to ask the guy at the desk to go get something..?"

Shy kid, target demo of RPGs, not going to do that.
