@Atkins that's what I said though

2018-08-25 01:33:09 UTC

I only like animation with good plot

Personally, I don't treat the term "anime" as a sacred cow since it is a term used outside of Japan to distinguish it from other animation, whereas in Japan it is used for all animation. But I will up hold as technical term to distinguish anime as a spicific subset of cartoons made by the Japanese (disregarding that they sometimes cheaply outsourced labour) usually for the Japanese primarily (even if it might not be exclusively). *I type slow*

anime is a western definition

PLOT

2018-08-25 01:33:44 UTC

use it with the intent it was created for the west

2018-08-25 01:33:45 UTC

Diddies

2018-08-25 01:33:50 UTC

otherwise call them "cartoons"

2018-08-25 01:34:10 UTC

I think when it comes to art that trying to make concrete 100% definitions to define and categorize is often futile and pointless

2018-08-25 01:34:45 UTC

where is the line between comic and manga

2018-08-25 01:35:22 UTC

Manga is written the opposite direction

2018-08-25 01:35:24 UTC

Same as anime, made by the Japanese for the Japanese

2018-08-25 01:36:31 UTC

there are korean comics you couldn't distinguish from japanesse by anything else but names of characters

2018-08-25 01:36:37 UTC

would you consider them manga ?

2018-08-25 01:37:14 UTC

Only ever read them on Webtoons

2018-08-25 01:37:42 UTC

And tbh knowing that, that might be what Korean ones are considered idk

2018-08-25 01:37:44 UTC

The are called manhwa, like manga & anime, they are only distinguished for where itis made from.

2018-08-25 01:37:58 UTC

Ah

2018-08-25 01:38:05 UTC

The more you knoooow

2018-08-25 01:38:24 UTC

manga is japanese

2018-08-25 01:38:28 UTC

manhwa is korean

2018-08-25 01:38:32 UTC

comics is everything else

2018-08-25 01:38:42 UTC

simple

2018-08-25 01:38:52 UTC

There is also one for chinese comics.

2018-08-25 01:39:20 UTC

no doubt, every (almost) language has word for comic

2018-08-25 01:39:43 UTC

I sometimes say anime is Chinese Cartoons, or my personal favorite Mongolian Moving Pictures as a joke

2018-08-25 01:39:49 UTC

my only point is. If a new term is used for a sub-category, don't reuse that new sub-category for everything else

2018-08-25 01:40:11 UTC

there's no reason for people to call an american cartoon, **an anime**

2018-08-25 01:40:12 UTC

Manhua for Chinese/Taiwanese comics.

2018-08-25 01:40:24 UTC

yea I agree Belial

2018-08-25 01:40:34 UTC

unless they are trying to profit from that group

2018-08-25 01:40:41 UTC

with ill intent

2018-08-25 01:41:02 UTC

Ultimately normies will call it whatever the first thing that comes to mind is tbh

2018-08-25 01:41:23 UTC

Prefer referring to anime as "Japanese Children's Cartoons" as my joke name for it.

2018-08-25 01:41:54 UTC

i usually just go with ching chong cartoons

2018-08-25 01:41:56 UTC

Which is why Kill la Kill is my favorite Japanese Children's Cartoon.

2018-08-25 01:42:06 UTC

Lol
