@.B So, in Canada at least, property taxes are charged by the municipal government on a yearly basis.
The government need to do something or else there wont be affordable housing for working class and even middle class people. Someone has to be the busboy, accountant to keep the economy running.

If you don't work in Canada, you're not paying income tax.
If you're just owning a house? It's pretty much just property tax at this stage.
