and to me the idea itself is pretty silly. Not just the idea of an European army, as that's a silly idea in and of itself, but the idea that this would be a step in conquering Europe. Like, What, you gonna draft people from all across Europe to help you... conquer Europe?

nah, it's not about conquering anything. it's about internal control. can't get italian troops to oppress italians for example, but if you send over troops from another country it's much easier.

hard to break soldiers of loyalty to their countrymen, but foreign soldiers don't have that problem.
