The expressions can get pretty complicated.

To my shame, I have given up on Desktop customization, because I am really insanely OCD.

I now use Mac OS, just so I can't fiddle with the look endlessly.

But, I suppose it works in any environment.

BTW, you can use strace to debug quickly why it's not working.

Run xdg with strace prepended and you will see all system calls.

It usually tells you if it's looking in the wrong path, etc.
