I do it with laser towers

latelly with roboports even

I take a few gun towers, set them up just outside the target range.

the game is kinda set for you to gear up, but I always tend to towers

in general I hate consumables

I take a rifle with piercing rounds, let my towers back me up

it's more interesting that way
