doesn't the javelin missile require line of sight for target acquisition
it says the effective range is like 1.5 miles, but i dont know if that is the launcher or the missile
I think it does require line of sight
the launcher requires an IR target
Yeah
then the missile uses long wave IR
so they probably use more than one at a time anyways
Ah
super dangerous, just give it to your hezbollah allies or w/e
imagine carrying that in a combat situation
the worst part about fighting a near peer adversary today is that their tank have laser warning recivers and can determine where the missile is coming from really quick
so carrying multiple javelins sounds like a rather bad idea, the moment the 1st shot is fired
the AT crew is in danger
the javelin is asymmetric so they probably dont fire them at every possible target
They say in the video that since the javelin doesnβt use lasers itβs harder for active protection to pick up
they dont have to use lasers in order to be found out
the tank has onboard radar aswell
only the newest ones
Interesting
also russians have outfitted all their tank destroyer vehicles to carry multiple atgms
what does the atgm have to do with it
the russians pretty much inveted the APS system
they know the main weakness of it is if you fire multiple missiles or rockets to destroy the tank
what does the agtm have to do with the top attack situation
makes no sense
Because aps can be used against atgms
i dont understand
the conversation is about top attack
is he saying that they have a tank fired missile that is also top attack?
who is they
the russians
yes they do
what is it called
krasnopol and hermes
krasnopol is not an agtm
it is top attack
hermes is a big ass rocket
its an ADATS type missile
its capable of engaging both aircraft and tanks
do they have anything that is carried by infantry
like we were talking about
not yet
the chinese do
well maybe you can borrow their corona rocket
its very effective but it takes at least 3 weeks to kill
