Infantry support for tanks is different to stormtroopers imo

2020-02-09 23:26:37 UTC

Soviet steppes

2020-02-09 23:26:39 UTC

well yeah since in ww1 there really wasnt any urban combat

2020-02-09 23:27:03 UTC

arras,amiens,ypres were carpet bombed

2020-02-09 23:27:32 UTC

before any infantry could even arrive

2020-02-09 23:27:38 UTC

Before stormtroopers in WW1 you basically had mass infantry charges supported by artillery

2020-02-09 23:28:03 UTC

Thereafter infiltration tactics etc.

2020-02-09 23:28:14 UTC

charging against well prepared dug in MG nests were the most chad thing to do

2020-02-09 23:28:26 UTC

motorized divisions did the same thing as a stormtroopers

2020-02-09 23:29:01 UTC

though they had half the tanks as a regular tank division

2020-02-09 23:29:04 UTC

Afaik they just kept the pace with the tanks

2020-02-09 23:29:12 UTC

this was pretty pointless

2020-02-09 23:29:19 UTC

which were 5km/h

2020-02-09 23:29:23 UTC

fast

2020-02-09 23:29:30 UTC

since they couldn't do much with those tanks

2020-02-09 23:29:42 UTC

the ft17 was marginally faster

2020-02-09 23:29:47 UTC

this would plague them up until Stalingrad

2020-02-09 23:30:10 UTC

Big issue with Germany in WW2 was tanks driving ahead and not enough oil being around for infantry to keep the pace

2020-02-09 23:30:25 UTC

Which at times lead to a lack of infantry support for tanks

2020-02-09 23:30:50 UTC

Big issue with Germany in WW2 ~~was tanks driving ahead and~~ not enough oil ~~being around for infantry to keep the pace~~

2020-02-09 23:30:57 UTC

Yes

2020-02-09 23:31:14 UTC

Russia jus too damn big

2020-02-09 23:31:22 UTC

they had the biggest synthetic oil industry

2020-02-09 23:31:46 UTC

Nope
the idea was the tanks make a brekthrough and encircle enemies in a pincer manouver while the infantry had to the mop up operation
the problem was the tanks often managed to entrap enire divisions worth of men and tanks in soviet theatre leading to infantry taking sever casulaties

2020-02-09 23:31:48 UTC

and even that only produced about a quarter of what they needed

2020-02-09 23:32:23 UTC

Yeah it was pretty bad

2020-02-09 23:32:34 UTC

Afaik Germany used woodgas for training tanks

2020-02-09 23:32:38 UTC

the infantry lagged behind because there were literally too many soviets

the aryan ubermench

2020-02-09 23:33:58 UTC

tbf Barbarossa as a whole was retarded

2020-02-09 23:34:37 UTC

No it was a solid idea. germany was in oil deficit, they were hemoragging it daily if they ran out of oil they were done for, the war would be over before it even began

2020-02-09 23:34:42 UTC

I know Greta thinks she has super powers because she is autistic but I don't think she is powerful enough to classify her as Ubermench.

2020-02-09 23:34:52 UTC

no

2020-02-09 23:35:12 UTC

Germany only needed the Ukraine and the Caucasus

2020-02-09 23:35:13 UTC

not even romanian oil and sythiteic oil could cover germany's need

2020-02-09 23:35:24 UTC

that was the whole point

2020-02-09 23:35:28 UTC

but nooo
