imo tanks didn't replace stormtroopers but were in parallel with it
didnt the soviets employ shock troops of their own
isnt that the same as stormtroops
they xid
afaik
Idk the role of stormtropers specifically in WW2 seems to be mroe related to urban combat
khmm
Infantry support for tanks is different to stormtroopers imo
Soviet steppes
well yeah since in ww1 there really wasnt any urban combat
arras,amiens,ypres were carpet bombed
before any infantry could even arrive
Before stormtroopers in WW1 you basically had mass infantry charges supported by artillery
Thereafter infiltration tactics etc.
charging against well prepared dug in MG nests were the most chad thing to do
motorized divisions did the same thing as a stormtroopers
though they had half the tanks as a regular tank division
Afaik they just kept the pace with the tanks
which were 5km/h
fast
since they couldn't do much with those tanks
the ft17 was marginally faster
this would plague them up until Stalingrad
Big issue with Germany in WW2 was tanks driving ahead and not enough oil being around for infantry to keep the pace
Which at times lead to a lack of infantry support for tanks
Big issue with Germany in WW2 ~~was tanks driving ahead and~~ not enough oil ~~being around for infantry to keep the pace~~
Yes
Russia jus too damn big
they had the biggest synthetic oil industry
Nope
the idea was the tanks make a brekthrough and encircle enemies in a pincer manouver while the infantry had to the mop up operation
the problem was the tanks often managed to entrap enire divisions worth of men and tanks in soviet theatre leading to infantry taking sever casulaties
and even that only produced about a quarter of what they needed
Yeah it was pretty bad
Afaik Germany used woodgas for training tanks
the infantry lagged behind because there were literally too many soviets
ok clubfoot goebbels
the aryan ubermench
tbf Barbarossa as a whole was retarded
