@Cavalier yes I've read the verse before. How do I know that the prayers of the saints they are talking about are not just the prayers collected when the saints were alive? And how does it follow that I should pray to saints ? Especially since I can pray to God directly.

When you pray 'to' saints you also pray to God directly. You just ask for their intercession and they know how to pray better than you, since they are united with God.

Considering these things, it is wise to sometimes (not always) ask saints to pray for you.

Also, asking a living person to pray for you is quite different than asking a dead one that resides in Heaven

To say that the saints can hear your prayers is saying they are like God and implying they are at least somewhat omniscient
