I live in a blue state where the Republicans are often useless, both in the sense of being cringe centrists and in the sense of usually losing elections
so I've been casting a lot of protest votes
e.g. in our last election for governor, there was a moderate Republican incumbent who was very unpopular. I voted for a Conservative Party candidate who ended up with 1% of the vote.
wonder if I should run for office
I could *be* someone's protest vote
My dad is reading a religious book to us and explaining that if the Jews had just listened to Jesus they would not have been destroyed
> wonder if I should run for office
@DrocsidInReverse I say go for it.
one thing though, not sure I'm ready to be a pariah to every human who isn't far right
That's unfortunately what happens when someone with any opinions to the right of Stalin steps into politics today. I certainly understand where that fear comes from and it is very justified.
And thanks for teaching me a new word never heard pariah before.
irl friend and I talked about starting a local monarchists org the other day
Trouble is, people would almost certainly disagree as to what house and what succession rules should be followed.
Obviously I should be king
Ahem
🐙
Monarchist Org Rule 1: Find your most senior male-line relative and make that guy your main heir
Yo Guys we will be watching "My Way" in like 5 mins. Join the General Chat if you wanna watch it with us
what's that
Its based off a true story of a Korean Guy drafted into the Japanese army who then gets captured by the soviets, who then got captured by the Germans who then finally got captured by the Americans.
Interesting
Have to head out soon but might pop in later
man, Trump would disapprove of this My Way guy so hard
he's on record as liking people who *weren't* captured
Lol
racist against Americans
So my friend is a Minarchist. What else should I say to piss him off (besides more Anarchist jokes)?
why bother trying to be middle of the road on such an important topic like government?
Either the libertarians are right and you shouldnt bother with a middleman ie. government or they're wrong in which case it doesnt make sense to depower an institution that clearly provides a benefit
try to force him into one camp
there is no middle ground of anarchism and order
from there you can probably try to use libertarian principles to suggest something such as like a business wants to expand, so does a government and unless they have some kind of permanent solution to that simple fact a minarchist government will eventually become more controlling so to speak so it wouldnt even work in a practical level
hope this helps @Caesar
That is a terrible argument. All systems eventually fail, the fact you can explain how one fails does not negate any plausibility or merit from it.
I always prefer the argument of control and power. In the absence of government control another power will rise to fill the vacuum. One where the social contract may not be enshrined in citizen rights orientated dogma.
its not even about failure of the system because for all intents and purposes there is no such thing as a minarchist system. what a minarchist system is on a practical level is a crippled mess of an institution and not a functional one
it would be accurate to say that a minarchist system is proof that the system already failed
Good good, my mindset is spreading
🐙
it would either have to become more controlling to maintain itself, which in that instance would stop being minarchist, completely collapse internal or external, or become a stagnant system.
