fasces can smell a libertarian from a mile away

2020-04-18 19:32:37 UTC

read about it somewhere, something about the brain being adapted to identifying predators to ones young

2020-04-18 19:33:41 UTC

Ok, so what is the NRx position on economics? Is it more economically left (communism, socialism, etc.), right(capitalism, free trade, laissez-faire, etc.), or third position (distributism, corporatism, protectionism, etc.)?

2020-04-18 19:35:11 UTC

There's a split between people who brought their libertarianism into this and people who are more third positionist or simply are apathetic about it

2020-04-18 19:36:02 UTC

Which isn't too different from the dissident right at large

2020-04-18 19:36:20 UTC

I suspect it will cause issues/a schism later down the line

2020-04-18 19:36:58 UTC

I don't think there is a unified nrx economic theory

2020-04-18 19:37:02 UTC

The whole bitching about Keith Woods etc. could be seen as this beginning

2020-04-18 19:37:05 UTC

it's not really a focus of it

2020-04-18 19:37:34 UTC

Ok, I guess I fall into the more third position. I like capitalism, but regulated and I’m a protectionist.

2020-04-18 19:38:08 UTC

yeah I mean it's worth noting that the Free Market religion is fairly recent

2020-04-18 19:38:29 UTC

capitalism doesn't have to be neoconservatism/neoliberalism

2020-04-18 19:38:56 UTC

I like a mixed economy with protectionism. Corporations at this point have become corporate fiefdoms/oligarchies which need to be brought in line

2020-04-18 19:39:04 UTC

Isn’t capitalism more of a classical liberalism concept?

2020-04-18 19:40:03 UTC

Depends on what type of capitalism

2020-04-18 19:40:19 UTC

Oh ok

2020-04-18 19:40:31 UTC

Classical liberalism as espoused by Smith never was really implemented in his time

2020-04-18 19:40:38 UTC

it's almost as if economics is context-dependent and blindly following some gay ideology is an infantile reductionist position

2020-04-18 19:40:48 UTC

<:blobwoke:473997738904780840>

2020-04-18 19:40:49 UTC

Only post war we actually seriously enforced free trade

2020-04-18 19:41:00 UTC

I personally am kinda apathetic to economics though if I had to choose one it would probably be regulated capitalism

2020-04-18 19:41:39 UTC

capitalism is fine, it just needs to be constrained based on the economic and political realities of the time

2020-04-18 19:41:44 UTC

which it already is
