guess I should post my story idea now

In the near future, a disaster happens in which malfunctioning/malignant nanotech causes people to become pleasure-addicted quasi-zombies. They can still think, but the bots stimulate their brain with pleasure signals to the point where the infected person becomes addicted to obeying the bots (like drug addicts, except the bots can fix or modify busted brain cells to prevent burnout). When they infect a new person (through biting or whatever), everyone in the bot network is rewarded with boosted pleasure signals overall.
The main protagonist is an eastern orthodox Christian who escapes into the woods to get away from a growing mob of pleasure-zombies. The story follows him and his thoughts as he lives off the land, gradually moving to avoid detection.
This man is forced into a simpler life akin to some Christians in the past, and we get to see him meditate on this, as well as questions regarding the current state of the world. One big theme of the story will be the question of whether this new world is a utopia or dystopia. Many people would likely view a world where everyone is in a gigantic techno-orgy of pleasure as a good thing. However, if your worldview is different, you’d probably view it as a hell-on-earth situation out of Hieronymus Bosch.
Are the infected freed from pain and suffering, or are they under the yoke of a terrible tyranny?
Is there a point to resistance?
