nation comes from what is called "ethne" in Greek, meaning "a people"
nationalism was formed from the notion that people sharing a culture are entitled to defend themesleves, their homes, and their lineage
nation comes from shared genes and history
nationalism is modern, but the notion of nation is not
and now france is burgundy
brittany
provence
etc
texas though is a state, was a country, but is not a nation because there are no ethnic texans really
TEXAS IS A NATION-STATE
BUT A GOOD ONE
"c. 1300, from Old French nacion "birth, rank; descendants, relatives; country, homeland" (12c.) and directly from Latin nationem (nominative natio) "birth, origin; breed, stock, kind, species; race of people, tribe," literally "that which has been born," from natus, past participle of nasci "be born" "
Texicans?
Lots of Germans settled Texas.
texican was the name for white texans under the Mexican gov't
true
is texas then a state of mind? Regardless of ethno, there are die hard Texans.
this is true, and I've known many. but there is a lot of German/Czech/English influence in Texas, so a lot of white texans see themselves as "texan first" as they say around here when they're mad at the US gov't
exactly. Texas first. The rest can go to hell
SECEDE
aristocracy was possible because of the existance of a belief in the power of the church and in the power of the family. the state has destroyed both family and church imo
