@DrWittMDPhD I was thinking the Strapon cannon from "From Dusk til Dawn"

2018-10-28 21:24:15 UTC

That sounds like an anime, which his degenerate.

2018-10-28 21:26:39 UTC

From dusk til dawn is a western movie about criminals and hostages that accidentally stop at a place overrun by vampires

2018-10-28 21:26:59 UTC

Phew, dodged a bullet there

2018-10-28 21:32:38 UTC

Not that far off from an anime since it is Tarinteno and whats his name making it.

2018-10-28 22:56:52 UTC

I am going to ask you to speculate. People often use mass shootings in the US to further their political agenda. Mass shootings in the US didn’t spike until 2011-12-ish. The country has had a problem with mental illness long before 2011. Guns were also very easy to obtain and widely owned long before 2012. The real question is, why 2011 specifically? Something must have happened? What event was so significant that it could trigger this explosion of mass shooting? No one knows because no one has looked. So i will ask you to speculate.

2018-10-28 23:20:19 UTC

Oh that's easy. Columbine opened the door and then you add in the general unrest right now. Boom.

2018-10-28 23:20:48 UTC

My personal theory is that the rise in food prices is causing this. The fact is that homicide scales almost perfectly with income inequality. Not just with individual states but with individual countries as a whole. People’s essential needs are being threatened so they look to revenge and renown to those who they perceive took it from them

2018-10-28 23:21:27 UTC

I don't think it's food prices. I think it's much more likely to be the general unease.

2018-10-28 23:21:37 UTC

We already know rising food prices caused the global revolution https://www.technologyreview.com/s/425019/the-cause-of-riots-and-the-price-of-food/

2018-10-28 23:21:42 UTC

You've got the elites banning opinions and attacking people.

2018-10-28 23:21:55 UTC

See crap like Sarah Jeong.

2018-10-28 23:22:06 UTC

I think you'd have a difficult time making that connection in almost every mass shooting to date

2018-10-28 23:22:12 UTC

Like, the guy at Virginia tech

2018-10-28 23:22:29 UTC

It wasn’t a steady rise, it was an explosion

2018-10-28 23:22:37 UTC

Alot of the mass shooting stuff in general is more a rise in awareness than anything.

2018-10-28 23:22:44 UTC

Particularly as of late.

2018-10-28 23:22:51 UTC

It was his threatened liverlihood that led him to shoot up...his university?

2018-10-28 23:23:08 UTC

Bloomberg wants to create the impression there's a sudden sharp rise in shootings and the media is playing along.

2018-10-28 23:23:14 UTC

weren't the columbine kids rather well off?

2018-10-28 23:23:19 UTC

In truth, things got quiet.

2018-10-28 23:23:36 UTC

Yeah, most of these events everyone is going after are generally pretty well fed people.

2018-10-28 23:23:46 UTC

Columbine was in 99

2018-10-28 23:23:52 UTC

Don't underestimate the rise in awareness.

2018-10-28 23:24:01 UTC

the number of incidents are being inflated to put people into a useful hysteria

2018-10-28 23:24:01 UTC

That alone can drive the story.

2018-10-28 23:24:19 UTC

How are they being inflated?

2018-10-28 23:24:26 UTC

Everyone is afraid of child molestation rings. Child molestation was down since the media got into it in the 80s and has been down ever since.

2018-10-28 23:24:39 UTC

`But NPR reached out to every one of those schools repeatedly over the course of three months and found that more than two-thirds of these reported incidents never happened. `

2018-10-28 23:24:40 UTC

But everyone seems deathly afraid to let their kids walk around alone outside anyway.

2018-10-28 23:25:47 UTC

Never let a crisis go to waste, and if you don't have a crisis that's just a problem of messaging.

2018-10-28 23:26:04 UTC

The tech tyranny is probably going to come to a head because with each rule being rolled out to ban certain topics. It becomes more and more apparent that these sites are becoming less and less fun and useful. "The Good Censor" even brought this up to Google. Condemning the lack of transparency, blaming it for a lot of the backlash and even suggesting to move forward with tools to curate one's own search results.

2018-10-28 23:26:59 UTC

I don't really see it happening. The tech giants would have to start censoring really mainline stuff and there'd have to be enough support for people to keep fighting it and not get crushed.

2018-10-28 23:27:20 UTC

If you silence *all* dissent, you win by default.
