Altruism is a bit more complex but overall id argue its harmful

2018-11-15 20:17:50 UTC

Nihilism is the argument that man must guide himself

2018-11-15 20:17:56 UTC

No its not

2018-11-15 20:18:02 UTC

@Khanclansith define militant atheism

2018-11-15 20:18:12 UTC

Nihilism said man cant know shit

2018-11-15 20:18:16 UTC

Nihilism is the rejection of a higher order of moral value

2018-11-15 20:18:36 UTC

Which means that the only remaining moral compass is the individual

2018-11-15 20:18:39 UTC

Look at the skeptics

2018-11-15 20:19:03 UTC

It stripped man of reason and integration and tossed him aside

2018-11-15 20:19:47 UTC

These folks going on about how everyone with any sort of religious faith "Clearing is an insane unthinking ignorant monster!" @Beemann

2018-11-15 20:20:16 UTC

Oh so the fedora tippers not even other atheists like

2018-11-15 20:20:42 UTC

Yeah the neckbeard mgtows aka the new skeptics

2018-11-15 20:21:21 UTC

Sorry, who do you count amongst that number? Keeping in mind that mgtow is not an atheist movement and we're now moving heavily into buzzword territory

2018-11-15 20:21:43 UTC

True

2018-11-15 20:21:58 UTC

Its till prevalent in the other groups of atheists

2018-11-15 20:22:14 UTC

Also millennials

2018-11-15 20:22:57 UTC

Also look how compartmentalized the universities are

2018-11-15 20:23:29 UTC

Sorry are millenials and universities examples of new skeptics or militant atheists or nihilism?

2018-11-15 20:23:51 UTC

Yes to a smaller extent

2018-11-15 20:23:57 UTC

@Beemann When I posted the "Get the Wrong think" Critizism on the recent video some one came out at said the Student was "Not thinking and just brainwashed by Abrahamic religion" or something to that effect.

2018-11-15 20:24:13 UTC

nihilism that is

2018-11-15 20:24:27 UTC

Most arent at the logical extreme or close

2018-11-15 20:25:25 UTC

If you were born in the 80s or early-mid 90s you're a millennial. Generational distinctions get us nowhere
Most universities are ruled over by postmodern neosocialism, which does call to higher order morals

2018-11-15 20:25:53 UTC

Its altruism

2018-11-15 20:26:10 UTC

Also the science community is full of skeptics im talking about mostly

2018-11-15 20:26:23 UTC

It's not raw altruism

2018-11-15 20:26:29 UTC

Yes it isnt

2018-11-15 20:26:45 UTC

As they arent dead

2018-11-15 20:27:43 UTC

I don't think altruism necessarily leads to death, but it does lead to small subsistence-based societies

2018-11-15 20:27:49 UTC

Which would be shit to live in

2018-11-15 20:27:51 UTC

No it leads to death

2018-11-15 20:28:00 UTC

The moral ideal is sacrifice

2018-11-15 20:28:20 UTC

Sacrifice is not binary

2018-11-15 20:28:47 UTC

Elaborate

2018-11-15 20:28:57 UTC

I would go back to what I read about the fundament reason for religion. I serves three purposes: 1) to answer the great questions (Creation, Life, Death, Ect...) 2) to imprint Morals on individuals in support of the community Ethics (Do not steal, murder, ect) and 3) Provided comfort and guidance for people in tough times.

2018-11-15 20:29:12 UTC

The expectation is not that you just kill yourself out of convenience for someone else

2018-11-15 20:29:25 UTC

The idea is to form a rational version, not unlike rational self interest

2018-11-15 20:29:46 UTC

The difference is that the focal point is not the individual, which is, I think, a key flaw

2018-11-15 20:29:52 UTC

That is the logical extreme and also the lesser versions people giving up a higher value for a lower or none at all will lead to death

2018-11-15 20:30:02 UTC

@Khanclansith you missed the biggest part: Bring people together, form communities.

2018-11-15 20:30:13 UTC

You don't have to give up a higher value
