It doesn't benefit us. As China grows in power they can influence the world in ways we cannot counter. I kinda like a world with only one military superpower. It has a lot of benefits.
You all talk about us just bombing the hell out of people who support terror on our shores. Another superpower would make doing that difficult if not impossible. I actually remember the cold war.
But an economically powerful China has the potential to be far more a threat that an economically weak Soviet Union ever was. Reagan ran the Soviets into the ground on economics. China won't go down that path.
I don't think China's culture and social control system will permit the kind of innovation necessary to maintain a military edge. They steal all their technology from the west and develop basically nothing of their own.
China has gotten to a point where I think they can keep developing indigenously. They are competing with the French and Japanese for high speed trains. With the Germans on wind turbines. And no one can beat them now on solar.
Well, I'll let this go for now. I gotta move on to my "to do" list and I have to make an appearance at the hospital since I'm admin on call this weekend. I look forward to more discussion on the state of the world. 😃
People on the internet who bitch about Flat Earthers are more annoying than the actual Flat Earthers, because the latter are so few we never see them unless the former go out of their way to point them out - Change my mind.
