@Lagomaster24 I can agree with people gardening if that's what you're saying. But I wouldn't say it's something we should be trying to shame people into doing or something. I don't htink it would have that much effect overall is what I'm sayinh.
deny cultural differences between regions of Europe
Oh no i wouldnt try to MAKE people do it, just encourage it
Yeah, this breaks down into "Free Europe" like the UK where you need...licenses for everything
And the "former Soviet Block" where you...nvm.
I guess you could break out the US too. Where you get places like CA where you are free to...not drink from straws.
Why are MA and CA getting rid of all their nuclear?
this is as of 2018
Anyways, the best environmental policies tend to be local. Like the commitment native people in the Great Lakes tend to protect their lakes.
yep
if the government does anything it would be setting a basic standard to go off of
imo
if people want to exceed those standards they are free too
I've been keeping an eye on this one of the reasons I'm gona stay in the navy longer, sadly with these plants shutting down its going to require fossil fuel to pick up the load cause wind and solar infrastructure isn't robust enough yet to make up for it
@pratel Since I'm a Massachusetts citizen, what I can tell you is the nuclear plant that just announced that it will go out of commission is like one of the biggest on the east coast and is a prime target for terrorist attacks. Also because I live fairly close to that one, if it goes off, I'm fucked.
I see.
honestly terrorist groups, out side of the eco one like green peace, aint going to target them cause they people dont care about the plant there more likely to go for more public items major resorts or military strategic targets like the pentagon
if they are smart enough to take down a plant
they are smart enough to know how bad of an idea it is
that and it would take a lot of effort to due so cause the core its self it very isolated and can easily be contained within the facility its self it something did go wrong, barring two near simultaneous acts of god along with bad emergeny power plan
that and the place is highly secure
and a hotspot
the electronics of the reactor control equipment isn't even connected to the internet it on its own internal network that will never contact the out side world
```In April 2013, the station increased its security following the Boston Marathon bombing.```
one example that security is quite tight there
and heres the biggest one
if you have the intelligence capable of formulating a plan to completely disable a facility with that amount of security
```The Nuclear Regulatory Commission defines two emergency planning zones around nuclear power plants: a plume exposure pathway zone with a radius of 10 miles (16 km), concerned primarily with exposure to, and inhalation of, airborne radioactive contamination, and an ingestion pathway zone of about 50 miles (80 km), concerned primarily with ingestion of food and liquid contaminated by radioactivity```
You have the intelligence capable of telling you why iys a bad idea
i dont live within 10 miles but i do live within 50 miles of said plant
so you know what that means
i would have to be evacuated
if the worst happens that is
yup if it ever does just pray the wind its going out to sea
im not going to say how close tho
it sits right on the beach
so if it lets go, the entire ocean there would be contaminated
if it manage to get out there would be some contamination but not as bad as people would think
oh it has
everyone knows about it
