well yes, but if the random spawn is only like 10% or something, but the birth rate is up at 35%

hold on, if you have 65% males, and you marry them off, suddenly you now have at least 50/50 possible generals no? "all wives of male characters in factions which have female generals can then be generals"

though, the marriage functions is independent to the spawn rate

well the problem is not that they are generals, is that they can be generals, is it not?

true the option of females being generals is part of the issue

okay, so here is what i am getting at: if a faction allows female generals, then all wives *can* generals, meaning they show up as a recuitable option. Then if you have 7 male children, and 3 female, and marry them off, then you have at least 7 females and 7 males in your pool to pick from, or 10 and 10 if husbands of female children, and the female children themselves can be generals.

is there a mechanic i am missing going from children to married to pool you can pick a general from?

characters cannot become statemen until they are 16

well, i'm assuming if you wait until they can be generals and they live that long.

and statemen is when you can do political actions or become a general
