Protestantism, for instance, depends on free speech to exist.
Protestantism depends on the market of ideas to be relevant because each sect of it focuses on a particular aspect of Christianity. This, in turn, relies on them being able to sell their religious beliefs to other groups and, in turn, requires for there to be some form of protected speech in order to be able to sell these ideas to others. Hence why Protestant nations have the concept of free speech.
Also, the best part was that I commented on there about how Theists do not censor free speech, but someone is actively hiding my comments on the page so no one else can see my comments.
They are literally acting like massive hypocrites and it amuses me.
All Christians must believe in and rely on free speech and free thought
It's a basic foundation of the faith that we have free will to do good or evil
We freely choose sin, and are held responsible for our actions, otherwise the crucifixion of Jesus would be pointless because our sins wouldn't be our fault
well except calvinism, as i am pretty sure they dont think free will truly exists, because of predestination
Calvinists are pretty much non-existent because of free speech and the marketplace of ideas.
Also, I had an Atheist say they were going to report me for “trolling” on Atheist Republic’s page for simply expressing my opinions after the Atheist Republic made a post about how “religious” people are the ones advocating for hate speech laws and silencing free speech.
This is some pretentious shit if I’ve ever seen it.
Just goes to show Locke was right.
I didnt know you were Muslim lol
(((losing side of history)))
anyone who says that should be shot on sight
Yeah a handful of predestination denominations exist
Primitive Baptist
There's a few of those around my home town. They're almost like the amish. Don't think you should read the Bible in your own time.
Have Bible studies, missionaries, youth groups, pianos, etc.
We have a handful in the next county over...some have been using the same church building for 150+ years
The pulpit of one of them has a bullet scar from the Indian Wars in the 1870s
wow
Nearby graves go all the way back to the civil war
A handful of CSA buried there
My wife went to St Peter's when she was in grad school, construction was completed in 1626, and her church in Beijing was about that old, rebuilt several times though
I love that kind of history. Buildings older than this country that're still standing.
Same
Oldest place I've been in was a Buddhist temple in Chongqing
Been to all the stuff in St Augustine also, plus an 800 year old ruined castle in Guizhou
Crazy to think I've walked the same footsteps as people from a thousand years ago, possibly someone famous, like an emperor
Yeah, I know right
Sort of reminds me of the final line of that silly movie Wanted. "What the fuck have you done lately?"
Conquerors, pioneers, lords, etc have stood where I've stood. I'm working as a CAD slave in furniture lol
And there’s good old Saint John’s Church and Antioch Church.
Also, if anything, Atheism is the losing side of history because societies that become dominated by secular ideologies rapidly become authoritarian hellholes where no one wins.
Yep
Either they change when they have no other option (China) or they implode (Russia)
The executioner diary I was talking about, it's a really good, almost religious book. If the prisoner couldn't read, they were taught to read and preached to before their execution day so that even though they were gonna die for their crimes, they still had a chance to save their souls
This showed up on my Youtube for some reason. This show is hilarious. Actually how most "Does God exist?" type arguments turn out. As far as the simple concepts being argued.
