The numbers are delayed, these may not be new infections, just new test results, the point of infection could have been 2-4 weeks ago depending on how long someone tried to just ride it out or how long they were asymptomatic

So it made it look like it just got a whole lot worse when it's really just reporting the situation from two weeks ago
Also if you have the virus and die in a car crash, shoot yourself, whatever, CDC is pushing hospitals to report it as a virus death
Like if you're even asymptomatic and didn't even know you had it, get gunned down in a drug deal gone bad, and then the hospital tests you postmortem, your cause of death will be the virus.
