The problem is in that much of the theoretical foundation of sociological studies is left-wing. You have some right-wing authors in there, and also some others with political positions that don't fit either label, but their work end up being so contrasting with what sociologists trained in the classics of the field consider the correct analytical framework that it just disappears.
