well if they come up with completely ideological answers I ask them to expand on that

and when it is found to be terrible we joke about it an d move on

It's always good to make people follow through on ideas and not just let them regurgitate talking points

nothing against the student, but against the idea

I never attack the individual, just the ideas

Too many kids and adults just regurgitate to fit in

they like me, the students

I wanted to be a teacher before I landed in journalism

I force them to look at how things are

I didn't want to be a teacher, I wanted to get into public relations

in politics

but landed a teaching job

I heard journalists tend to become PR

well I am a Communication major with a History minor

I'm a philosophy major but I ended up loving journalism

As a teacher how does the district make you handle the old cusual racism from materials pre-1930s?

but its hard for a 40 yr old vet to get started in such things

we don't use material from the 1930's lol

the books I use are less than 2 years old

although I do pull out some old books to show the students how things were interpretedearlier

And they don't cover history?

well we talk about everything

New books, new perspectives

slavery

and such

I just tell them to suck it the fuck up
