I think part of the problem in American politics is the career politician

Those limits seem austere to me; four/five terms for Senators & 12/15 terms for Representatives proves preferable to me. I don't know whether that bill will pass due to its severity or whether amendments & debate will increase the number of terms to something more passable.

Depends who it upsets

When you have many gods it becomes easier to accept that there are conflicts between them and then humans are simply the collateral damage

Religion is a collection of beliefs to 1) answer to questions of the universe, 2) indoctrinate the individual with morals in support of the community ethic and 3) to provide reassurances in toughs times. Your spiritualism answers the questions for yourself, your phylosphy grounds your morals in support of a broader community ethic, and falling back on them supports you in tough times
