Came to Canada for schooling, but the old couple that let him stay with them both got very sick in his last year and he's stayed over a year longer now to take care of them as apparently they were closer to being parental figures for him then his own parents, both or business people.

It's more of a logic argument. Ok, so it's a proven historical fact that Mao Zedong was a pedophile and mass murderer. But they could argue that as the failings of a man, not of an idea. And his successor Deng Xiaoping is a bit of evidence in favor of that.

In theory communism could be implemented without atrocity. In practice it cannot.

You would need everyone to be willing to surrender their personal property peacefully
