Ah right
the guys who raided the vikings.
We actually had a chance to take Memel castle in the medieval times, when the teutonic foothold was weak
but the samogitian army decided it's not worth it or something.
Proud Lithuanian pagan holdout
Against the Teutonic order
Held out for as long as possible
best weapon against them
since both Livonian Sword Brothers and the Teutons eventually were weakened when aquired that land
@Deleted User that post is great
Yeah
Wasn't it an alliance of poLes
Poles and Austrians who defeated the tuetonics
nope
well eventually
the major blow was Battle of Grunwald
by the time of the 13 years war between Poland and the Order, the teutons were pretty much on life support.
Ah right
@Dixielandmerchant I shared that this morning.
He really did. 😦
Heavy infantry of the period
The plate armour
Very advanced
not really. They had some strong castles, but they were pretty much reliant on foreign aid
English longbowmen would have taken them down a peg though
Look up the Great Prussian Uprising.
I mean in a heavy infantry sense
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prussian_uprisings

and based on archeological evidence, both the Order, and Grand Duchy were the same on tech more or less.
when it comes to certain weapons.
So was it the foreign aid then?
on our side stuff like lammeral was more common.
yes and no.
whilst they had good troops, they only embarked on raids into Lithuanian land, when they had someone to back them up
for example, the 1390 siege of Vilnius(Wilno) went on because the king of Czechia lent them a hand.
but by the time, their pretext of attacking us was void, because baptism happened 3 years prior.
and they could only raid Samogithia, because their baptism came later due to lots of autonomy rights.
Ah ok
So they aren't as superior as they are made out to be
I bet Poland regretted hiring them to drive out the Lithuanian pagans
