Making up a false quote isn't a counterargument
Forgive me for reading between the lines there
But your question of "Did your parents ever ban you from doing something"
how convenient for you. how about you correctly represent me when you read between the lines?
timed restricted sessions on a computer in a common room, how hard can it be ?
almost implies that parental restrictions are ineffective
Was that not your intent?
@Countess Again, you misrepresented my question. I said didn't your parents ever ban you from something that you did anyways?
Also you are talking about how its impossible for parents to monitor their childs usage 24/7
I did indeed eat cookies in secret
Which is you misrepresentng my argument
@Countess Yes.
They dont have to monitor their usage, if they dont enable usage in the first place
@Countess Wrong. I wasn't representing your argument. If you don't stop misrepresenting what I'm saying I will block you
What are you implying with ". I said didn't your parents ever ban you from something that you did anyways?"
Are you implying that parrental bans are ineffective?
Which is not what I am calling for
@Countess I'm implying that kids will do what parents don't want them to do
Sure
Which doenst have anything to do with my original suggestion
of dont give a kid a personal device and internet access
therefore it makes sense not to rely solely on parents to regulate platforms
You need a device to access the internet
that's why we didn't rely solely on parents to regulate the tv
6 year olds dont have money for a tablet
Sure, if you want your kid to be technologically ignorant, you can take technology away from them
lmao
Again you miss the point
It's common for kids to have ipads, phones, etc
No, you do
time restricted access
Okay dude slow down
Only give them a device when you can supervise their access
^
Dont give them an iPad to keep in their room @ 6 years old
As they age and mature, you can loosen up time restrictions
and eventually let them go unsupervised
That's not realistic. Lets say a parent gives an ipad to a kid to watch a movie. They walk away and do the dishes. They are still watching the child, but the child can now go into what they aren't supposed to.
Lets say I take my kid somewhere. I want him to have a phone in case of an emergency. That phone can connect to the Internet. I can't stop him.
lmao
You guys are not being very nuanced
