The thing is, if they're at the point where they're charging at cops, who they know are armed with guns, they're pretty well brainwashed. They legit think that they must take down both the Nazis and the cops (sometimes they're one and the same) to "save the country from fascism" or whatever. It's less about bragging to friends than it is that they actually believe that they're living in a modern version of 1933 Germany.

Most antifa types aren't charging at police. They're kicking trash cans, maybe lighting some dumpster fires, breaking windows, usual hooliganism. It takes a special kind of stupid to charge headlong at a cop.

I think in this case you're probably right for most of them. It can be hard to tell where the larping ends and the delusion begins

I know the left and right talk past each other a lot when it comes to antifa, but antifa really is an umbrella term (though it's moving towards being an actual organized movement) for anarchist groups, some of which are extremist in nature. It's kind of like saying "biker group" when talking about a bunch of guys on motorcycles. Some of them are violent gangs you want nothing to do with, and others are just old men trying to look cool.

I'm surprised we haven't seen any nation-wide anti-antifa type group really rise to prominence.
