Personally, I think it makes more sense to memorize the entirety of the Boy Scout Handbook and live in the woods with only a rope, tarp, knife and some canned food than to try and figure out where to find really old cars when you don't even know what kinds of places would be around.

2018-08-23 06:17:02 UTC

And stockpile essential goods: utility knives, firearms, nonperishable food and water, filter systems and cooking utensils.

2018-08-23 06:17:17 UTC

The Air itself isn't contaminated, it is the particles and dust that is.

2018-08-23 06:17:21 UTC

Maybe some general purpose hand tools and a generator too.

2018-08-23 06:17:35 UTC

That is why we are able to filtrate the air.

2018-08-23 06:17:37 UTC

OK. But the dust and particles got kicked into the upper atmosphere and are in suspension.

2018-08-23 06:17:49 UTC

That is why it is best to wait till dust settles first.

2018-08-23 06:17:53 UTC

filtration only really works if you're in a bunker or something.

2018-08-23 06:17:57 UTC

If you don't want to wait, use radiation gear.

2018-08-23 06:18:04 UTC

You gotta do backflips over the particles in the upper atmosphere.

2018-08-23 06:18:09 UTC

You have radiation gear in your closet?

2018-08-23 06:18:25 UTC

No... but there will be some in nuclear fallout bunkers.

2018-08-23 06:18:30 UTC

@Scribblehatch That's the real strat. Just live in space first.

2018-08-23 06:18:31 UTC

Thus it gives us a chance to prepare.

2018-08-23 06:18:42 UTC

Explore outside and get a leg up on others.

2018-08-23 06:18:49 UTC

Alot of those fallout bunkers have their own supplies.

2018-08-23 06:18:52 UTC

I visit the nuclear fallout shelter during 9/11.

2018-08-23 06:19:06 UTC

Well what I am saying is the community in the bunker...

2018-08-23 06:19:18 UTC

Can be the community that I was talking about.

2018-08-23 06:19:26 UTC

Was this a hardened underground facility or a really rugged building?

2018-08-23 06:19:39 UTC

I would assume it would be the same community.

2018-08-23 06:20:20 UTC

I will say that's one big weakness peppers tend to have. You really shouldn't expect to just be able to hold resources on your own. But trust could be difficult.

2018-08-23 06:21:08 UTC

I am not talking about hoarding resources to the point there is no room to move.

2018-08-23 06:21:25 UTC

I am working off the knowledge of nuclear cleanup around nuclear reactors and how they do it.

2018-08-23 06:21:36 UTC

Taking that in mind, restoring the air to somewhat functionality.

2018-08-23 06:21:55 UTC

Thus giving us a chance to rebuild and create a sustainable resource of food and water.

2018-08-23 06:22:07 UTC

Fair.

2018-08-23 06:22:15 UTC

Then using those to trade with neighboring communities.

2018-08-23 06:22:30 UTC

I've always taken the stance it's better to have a stable sedentary base.

2018-08-23 06:22:48 UTC

I don't think roving is a sustainable long-term strategy.

2018-08-23 06:23:07 UTC

I am going to post what I managed to so far.

2018-08-23 06:23:34 UTC

Step by step guide.

2018-08-23 06:23:36 UTC

Oh, one big thing I forgot. Telecoms.

2018-08-23 06:23:40 UTC

Specifically simplex radio.

2018-08-23 06:23:51 UTC

Of course part of the guide is raiding the local library for books on how to instructions.

2018-08-23 06:24:00 UTC

People these days assume Cell phones just work. But radio comms are vital for coordination.

2018-08-23 06:24:02 UTC

Thus giving a point of reference and ability to teach our children.

2018-08-23 06:24:14 UTC

I know cell phones will not work.

2018-08-23 06:24:22 UTC

Definitely with the radiation in the upper atmosphere.

2018-08-23 06:24:26 UTC

So I figured wired communication is best.
