Finite fuel brah

2018-08-23 06:27:31 UTC

Diesel is amazing.

2018-08-23 06:27:36 UTC

Yeah, but you can ride on the pegs of my bike. Does your car have pegs?

2018-08-23 06:27:36 UTC

Runs on anything.

2018-08-23 06:27:51 UTC

Though yes, gasoline is a limit.

2018-08-23 06:28:02 UTC

The average city only have 3 days max of supplies to keep on running in the event of no more trade

2018-08-23 06:28:23 UTC

Bikes might make sense for short distance runs, but we're talking something more rural. And presumably you'd want to be able to ferry supplies and stuff.

2018-08-23 06:28:33 UTC

That is why I would send people to surrounding towns that don't have bunkers.

2018-08-23 06:28:39 UTC

You won't get far fast enough on bikes.

2018-08-23 06:28:51 UTC

Better than walking

2018-08-23 06:28:58 UTC

I will not use bikes, only use vehicles as long as they last to get as much resources as I can.

2018-08-23 06:29:18 UTC

I personally always thought the best depiction of post-apocalypse was Jericho. But I haven't seen enough of the show to really judge.

2018-08-23 06:29:33 UTC

Alot of that comes down to fights between towns over resources like bullets.

2018-08-23 06:29:39 UTC

I would limited a vehicle to one tank of gas, depending on the type of vehicle. Dieasal.

2018-08-23 06:29:59 UTC

Diesel is better because it is really not picky on what you put inside the tank.

2018-08-23 06:30:06 UTC

Yeah.

2018-08-23 06:30:16 UTC

I want to be able to get resources from the towns that have no one alive.

2018-08-23 06:30:17 UTC

In the US ethanol is actually a good choice because we tend to have alot of corn.

2018-08-23 06:30:27 UTC

If any survives, I might take them in if they are useful.

2018-08-23 06:30:37 UTC

Depending on if I got enough food to feed them.

2018-08-23 06:30:39 UTC

Gasoline is strictly better if you can get a supply though (like you're on the coast and the oil suppiles survive)

2018-08-23 06:30:47 UTC

I will be using pumps connected to solar panels.

2018-08-23 06:31:00 UTC

I'd avoid getting too complicated.

2018-08-23 06:31:02 UTC

operations will be done in the day.

2018-08-23 06:31:17 UTC

Everything shuts off during night to conserve on electricity and fuel.

2018-08-23 06:31:35 UTC

Right now I am just focusing on building and gathering.

2018-08-23 06:31:40 UTC

Getting the community together.

2018-08-23 06:31:49 UTC

Then I will lay down the ground work for rules and conserving.

2018-08-23 06:32:13 UTC

But there will be a operation going on while it is happening.

2018-08-23 06:32:19 UTC

Removing the top soil in the surrounding area.

2018-08-23 06:32:31 UTC

Scrubbing down the houses and stuff.

2018-08-23 06:32:39 UTC

I have the perspective of a city dweller, I know LA gonna go mad max real quick in a disaster

2018-08-23 06:32:39 UTC

Basically removing any radiation from the area.

2018-08-23 06:32:51 UTC

Enjoy cancer

2018-08-23 06:32:51 UTC

My concerns would be:

Long-term Food supplies (read: farming)
Long-term water supplies (read: rivers, lakes or groundwater)
Community defense (read: guns and ammunition)
Community coordination (read: electricity and radio)
Establishing relationships and resources for other things. Like producing the above.

2018-08-23 06:33:04 UTC

Actually those who are tasked with that will be wearing radiation suits.

2018-08-23 06:33:30 UTC

If the cities got hit, I'd probably be running somewhere. Either the armed services or to the Midwest depending on the situation.

2018-08-23 06:33:31 UTC

One of my first things I will do, is establish homestead in a abandon military base, compound, or bunker.

2018-08-23 06:33:41 UTC

....radiation suits is hard to get and radioactive particle can be finicky

2018-08-23 06:33:48 UTC

Military does have a habit of abandoning stuff when withdrawing fast.

2018-08-23 06:33:55 UTC

Vehicles, weapons, computers, etc, etc...
