The Bennett Hypothesis is the only really long-lasting theory. And the academics hate it.
ie too much of it
It very much is.
makes sense
And I have lots of arguments to that effect.
Alot of the issue is that it's like trimming the government.
Everyone is for it until their pet project starts looking at the can.
And suddenly everyone is for it.
Is there a way to direct donate to Tim?
give me a laymans on Bennet Hypothesis btw
Patreon
That's not direct
its how i got the green text lel
oh uh
But I guess if it's the preference I'll use it

Essentially, the federal loan program has made kids not really care about price when attending college. Add to it people saying that you'll make it all back later and people just go to college without looking at the sticker price.
The Unis then take the money and create shiny new programs and facilities. Since no one is really paying attention to costs, no one really puts a stop to it.
yep
The attitude might be starting to change, but economically, the easy availability of low-interest loans (often below market) is the key factor.
why is the academic community against it
And the Government puts more of those out every year.
And also anti-trades propaganda
Children of millenials will have the costs of college beaten into their heads by their parents
You can count on that
Not even our parents
Our grandparents
Because the Bennet Hypothesis would imply that the solution to skyrocketing tuition is to make college not only harder to afford, but to kill the loan programs that fund the institutions and give them lots of money for salaries and pet projects.
uhhh
Obviously, this isn't too appealing a conclusion to most academics.
<#463068752725016579> btw?
i mean i think we should encourage trade schools but make Uni more affordable
Y'know what I encourage?
im not naive enough to support FREE college
Ree college
Oh, that would make things go off the wall.
Free anything devalues the item/service
People to acknowledge that school has become sorta outdated by internet.
