And I have lots of arguments to that effect.

2018-08-27 04:01:12 UTC

Alot of the issue is that it's like trimming the government.

2018-08-27 04:01:24 UTC

Everyone is for it until their pet project starts looking at the can.

2018-08-27 04:01:32 UTC

And suddenly everyone is for it.

2018-08-27 04:01:32 UTC

Is there a way to direct donate to Tim?

Essentially, the federal loan program has made kids not really care about price when attending college. Add to it people saying that you'll make it all back later and people just go to college without looking at the sticker price.

The Unis then take the money and create shiny new programs and facilities. Since no one is really paying attention to costs, no one really puts a stop to it.

2018-08-27 04:03:24 UTC

yep

2018-08-27 04:03:28 UTC

sounds like it

2018-08-27 04:03:33 UTC

The attitude might be starting to change, but economically, the easy availability of low-interest loans (often below market) is the key factor.

2018-08-27 04:03:49 UTC

why is the academic community against it

2018-08-27 04:03:53 UTC

And the Government puts more of those out every year.

2018-08-27 04:03:55 UTC

And also anti-trades propaganda

2018-08-27 04:03:59 UTC

Children of millenials will have the costs of college beaten into their heads by their parents

2018-08-27 04:04:01 UTC

You can count on that

2018-08-27 04:04:15 UTC

Not even our parents

2018-08-27 04:04:19 UTC

Our grandparents

2018-08-27 04:04:33 UTC

Because the Bennet Hypothesis would imply that the solution to skyrocketing tuition is to make college not only harder to afford, but to kill the loan programs that fund the institutions and give them lots of money for salaries and pet projects.

2018-08-27 04:04:45 UTC

uhhh

2018-08-27 04:04:47 UTC

Obviously, this isn't too appealing a conclusion to most academics.

2018-08-27 04:04:52 UTC

<#463068752725016579> btw?

2018-08-27 04:05:01 UTC

i mean i think we should encourage trade schools but make Uni more affordable

2018-08-27 04:05:20 UTC

Y'know what I encourage?

2018-08-27 04:05:22 UTC

im not naive enough to support FREE college

2018-08-27 04:05:37 UTC

Ree college

2018-08-27 04:05:37 UTC

Oh, that would make things go off the wall.

2018-08-27 04:05:38 UTC

Free anything devalues the item/service

2018-08-27 04:05:40 UTC

People to acknowledge that school has become sorta outdated by internet.

2018-08-27 04:05:42 UTC

:^)

2018-08-27 04:05:58 UTC

I was making a cake for the first time the other day.

2018-08-27 04:06:10 UTC

man the internet unironically taught me a whole lot more than high school did

2018-08-27 04:06:18 UTC

It came out perfeclty because anything I wasn't PRECISELY sure about, I could just consult youtube really quick.
