From my past few experiences flat-earthers have said that the earth is constantly accelerating up at 9.8m/s. This obviously makes not sense because if a=constant than we would be traveling roughly at the speed of light

Im studying quantum mechanics at Cornell University, and we can only see sub-atomic particles under certain conditions of energy, and light. And I can tell you just because we cannot rely on human senses to understand it, doesn’t mean it is not a fundamental part of reality
