The problem is, you have to come up with an explanation that applies to *every* case of a boat disappearing over the horizon. Why? Because earth curvature explains every case of a boat dissapearing over the horizon perfectly, there's not always going to be a mirage to blame.

The color change did nothing, the amount of the boat visible in that frame was visible the whole time. All ranty did was turn the contrast up.

If you watch the boat closely you'll notice that it doesn't get much smaller on the horizontal axis. However on the vertical axis it gets a lot smaller. That's because the boat is not just getting smaller, it's also getting lower. Inferior mirage or not.

Apparently people have done the double slit experiment and gotten the same results with C60, aka buckminsterfullerene. That's 60 carbon atoms!

It's not really a theory itself, more of a predictive model. The schrodinger equations form the basis of Quantum Electrodynamics (QED), the current scientific consensus for the behaviour of the electromagnetic force. In fact, I don't think there's really a quantum theory that doesn't involve the schrodinger equations in some way.

The problem I have is; we've reached a point in physics where it's really difficult to actually observe things accurately for what they are. We have to come up with complicated mathematics that involve a ton of probability.

When you apply that math to reality, strange things happen. Because it's not supposed to be reality, just predict it. But there's no choice but to apply the math to reality.

But the thing is, we actually do observe some really weird things sometimes.

I think string theory was designed to be as mathematically accurate as possible. Mathematically accurate doesn't mean realistic...

Things are only random to us if we don't know how they work.
