what got you into flat earth
what brought u to that realization
yea
what kind of evidence
ive never seen anything convincing
i just looked at the chris hadfield hole thing definitely weird but it doesnt make me disbelieve space
that pic is from the nasa solar maximum mission in the 80s
the band used it for their album cover. definitely weird that he would tweet that tho
yea i agree it doesnt make sense lol, but that hadfield guy seems kinda weird
i dont think it was intentional tho
intentionally misleading
well theirs either two ways of thinking about it imo: 1. chris hadfield posted the pic on nasas orders in order to intentionally mislead us or 2. he's just kinda weird and wanted to post a pic of a hole that he thought was cool
im not saying 1 is impossible, but id say 2 is much more likely
when it comes to stuff like this you always have to remember that most of the time theres really no hidden meaning or reasoning behind most stuff, its just one guy posting a pic on twitter. he probably just thought it looked cool
@jeremy is the tech from the old landings really destroyed? from what i know the only reason we dont use it is because technology has advanced so far and its basically obsolete by now
tbh the procedure to fix a leak in the iss is probly just plug with whatever u have as fast as you can lol
jeremy do u have a source for the image u just posted?
like where can i find that picture and try that myself
@jeremy actually on the nasa site where u can find the picture they tell you its a composite image
well im just saying nasas not being misleading when they post that image, they clearly state that its a composite
ill look into it, i was just commenting on what you posted
@Derek Nelson can i get the sources for those photos?
@Derek Nelson thanks. now where, in nasas catalogue of thousands of photos, can i find those so i can compare them?
@Derek Nelson have you ever tried to find those pictures and do that comparison yourself or do u just take that low quality flat earth meme as truth
@jeremy sure but thats just u saying that. im gonna look into it and see if thats actually true. btw nasas supposed to be going back to the moon by 2024
@Derek Nelson im not the one who posted the pic. i was just wondering
yea that actually makes sense
@jeremy yea since 2005, but im pretty confident we'll be going back this decade. i did some research on it a couple weeks ago and we're pretty close. orion capsule is almost done and they're thinking about launching it on a commercial rocket
im pretty sure if they were using special effects they wouldnt be rainbow colors. it looks like the colors are due to the poor film quality
im not an expert on rocket propulsion or 70s film tho so id want to look into ti
have you done any research like that yourself?
why? how do you know those "special effects" arent just due to the film quality? are you an expert?
what are you talking about
hm yea actually i do wonder how they did that. im gonna look into it. i doubt it was a 250k mile connection, but i dont know much about that sort of tech in the 70s so im actually interested in finding out how they did it
well if the "evidence" ur talking about is just u looking at a video and saying "yea that looks like special effects so its fake" then idk if i can trust it
again, im gonna research it. it sounds really interesting and i want to find out for myself. id be an idiot if i just took what u said as fact without doing some research myself
mhm
i. dont. know.
i will. im glad i got to talk to u about it because i really do want to find out.
yep
@jeremy I gtg but it was actually filmed by a rover with a special tv camera and then sent back to earth on radio waves pretty cool
@ไบ็ฌๅทใใใญ is kinda dunking on yโall rn lol
The album cover used a picture of a hole from a mission to space in the 80s look it up
Light criticism of religion? Rookie mistake, pal. Insta-muted
@DerpyOwais ur outta pocket
@jeremy what are you implying? Choose your words carefully
The fact that Derek thinks his memes are facts is laughable and also really sad lol
What are the advantages of objecting into ur balls as opposed to ur arm
For research
source: dude trust me
@jeremy I think u should think about taking an intro to physics course online or at a local college it would answer a lot of your questions and if u went to the class in person u could go to the prof with any question u had and get good answers
Lmfao Derek cmon
This is embarrassing
@Derek Nelson where did it all go wrong? Were you homeschooled? Did you even go to school at all?
how do time zones work in flat earth
so how to you explain eclipses
with these models
ok what about the different phases of the moon, how does that work? im not trying to disprove anything btw, im just curious as to how it works in the flat earth model
also @Logrian the second pic you posted about eclipses every month is kinda misinformed bc according to globe theory the moons orbit is not on the same plane as the earth's orbit, which explains why eclipses dont occur every month
@Logrian ok so what is the moon then?
@Logrian in the models you posted earlier, the moon seemed to be represented as a sphere, but now you're saying its not? what's going on?
@Citizen Z dont quite understand, can you explain further? or just send me some references so i can research myself if u dont feel like taking the time to explain
see this is what i dont like about flat earth. globe earth has answers to pretty much any question you can think of. yes, there are assumptions made, because some things are not possible to test experimentally, but the whole "theory" is congruent.. everything makes sense in the context of everything else. flat earth, on the other hand, as a hodgepodge of a bunch of different theories, and half the time they conflict with each other. its a mess. i mean, i ask about time zones and you send me a gif of two spheres circling a disc, but then you go on to say maybe the moon isnt a sphere?? so why isnt that accounted for in your original gif? nothing makes sense in flat earth
a patent doesnt mean anything lol
and i dont know the answer to that question
also, @Logrian the pic about never seeing the other side of the moon? its actually wrong, look up the phenomenon called earthshine
@Logrian this is what im talking about, you and other flat earthers are constantly posting info that is blatantly wrong. and im supposed to believe what you say?
did you look up earthshine?
there are times when the "dark side" of the moon is visible through a simple telescope. the globe earth explanation is that it is due to light reflecting off the earths surface. im not sure how you would explain this in flat earth theory. the point im making is that your image says "we see one perfect side of it ....always" when that is simply not true
its misinformation
gimme a sec, i may have misinterpreted what i read. i could be wrong
actually i was wrong. earthshine is still a real thing, but you cant see the far side of the moon from earth
@Sassy Undeniably here's the globe theory explanation: "We donโt see the far side because โthe moon is tidally locked to the Earth,โ said John Keller, deputy project scientist for NASAโs Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter project. โThe moon does rotate, but it rotates at the same speed that it rotates around the Earth.โ The moon completes one full rotation on its axis in the time it takes to orbit the Earth. That means the same side is always turned toward us."
@Logrian yep, i was definitely wrong about being able to see the far side. however, i still have a problem with how the images u post seem to conflict with each other. why would you post a gif of two spheres rotating above a disc earth then post an image that calls into question if the moon is even a sphere? its conflicting information
what?? why would you post things if you dont think theyre accurate or exact? are you trying to create confusion?
so the "best you can" is to post conflicting info and make things more confusing?
im not talking about what NASA says. this doesnt concern them at all. my issue is that the info posted by flat earthers often conflicting and confusing
"tidal look is a phenomena which means it is a special occurrence that breaks all rational and logical rules to be believed by those who subscribe to it" that is not the definition of a phenomenon
what? lol
definition of phenomena from merriam webster: plural phenomena : an observable fact or event
@chad46 both
lightning is a great example actually
it is an observable event, but its cause is not clear at first
however, it can be explained
ok at this point your definition of phenomena is just incorrect
@chad46 what is borg
@chad46 i dont understand
i mean, i googled it but i dont get it
youre saying youre not a hivemind i guess?
sassy, im really struggling to understand what youre even trying to say. your sentences are basically incomprehensible
^correct
thats why you only see one side, according to globe theory
@Sassy Undeniably that video is not correct, though
for multiple reasons
wait ignore what?
and no, if it takes 27 days to rotate on its axis and 27 days to orbit the earth, that means you always see one face
yes, it is spinning
slower than the earth
this is really hard to explain in words
its much easier to understand if i could draw diagrams
