My Papa (grandfather) was in WW2 as a naval officer in the south pacific. He served on the USS Reno, an anti aircraft ship, firing the large machine guns on deck. He lost his hearing in his 20's. He was drafted just as he turned 18, and never finished high school. He came out of the war and went straight to college, graduating with a BOS. He was a wonderful man. He was scarred from war though. He wouldn't talk about what happened to anyone. He would just say it was hell on earth. I can't help but wonder how degusted he would be at the weak whiney males of today's generation, the protesting and sheer idiocy. He was raised back when men had no choice but to be men. I am not positive, he always referred to them as "large machine guns" and I cannot for the life of me find out which ones on the ship he shot. There were multiple sizes, I believe.

to be honest sometimes he just called them "bigggg guns" to anyone who asked what he had shot 😆 But he didn't like to talk about it so he would probably say as little as possible.

We have been doing researched about the ship he was on and supposedly it was torpedoed the same year Papa was drafted. He was drafted near August and put straight on the ship, and then in November it was hit, although the torpedo didn't explode. It only ripped a hole in the back part of the ship. Papa never spoke about it but we are beginning to think he was on it when it was hit. 🤔

I am sure mere words are hard to believe at this point. Being addicted to anything is horrible, I am sure. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." and Romans 13:14, "But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires." So the guidelines are clear. Humans will be tempted- but you have to resist. You have to be strong but not just in your own strength. God loves us and is there to strengthen us and fight our battles with and for us when we cry out to Him.
Exodus 14:14 "The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” " Deuteronomy 1:30 "The LORD your God, who goes before you, will fight for you, just as you saw Him do for you in Egypt" Psalm 34:17 "When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles." Isaiah 41:10 "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Ephesians 6:13 " Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm." 🙂
