That's about the spot I'm at.

Tradition isn't necessarily a bad thing; much of it is old wisdom we've forgotten the origin of.

Consider:
Place a ladder in a monkey cage with a banana on top. Rig the top rungs to trigger a water sprinkler any time a monkey climbs it.
A few monkeys will climb and take the banana. Eventually, the monkeys realize the water sprinkler cuts on, and start beating up any monkey that tries to climb the ladder.
Once they've all stopped climbing the ladder, start replacing monkeys with new ones one at a time. The new ones will attempt to climb, and get beat up. Keep doing this until all of the original monkeys have been replaced.
You now have a cage of monkeys who refuse to climb the ladder, with no idea why.

That's where we find ourselves with much of our modern wisdom, tradition, and values.
Progressives keep pointing at the banana and asking why we don't just grab it, and conservatives don't know the whole answer, they just know it's a bad idea.

That being said, those "proofs" don't necessarily attribute such a God to any particular religion, or prove the existence of souls, immortal or otherwise.

Buuut, the earliest understanding of the soul is just one's consciousness, so you can logically prove to yourself that *at least* your soul exists, so it's not difficult to at least extrapolate, but not necessarily prove, the existence of other souls. Proving that those souls or your own persist after death of the body is much trickier.

So rationalize your platform to any who are interested, without demanding that they do the same in turn.

It doesn't take much organizing. Bring a table, chair, and a Trump or Republican or whatever campaign sign you're most interested in.

Pick an appropriate sidewalk or plaza, and chill for a Saturday.

ooh, if attending meetings works, watch a county commissioner meeting. Get a better understanding of the responsibilities of your local government. The separation of powers into the local-state-federal levels is just as important as the separation into legislative-executive-judicial.

People like to talk about how we need government to build roads. The municipal and county levels are where most of that happens.

States mostly just deal with the highways, and the Fed mostly just deals with interstates.

In Texas, the state government has been mandating a lot of programs to the counties, then making the counties pay for them, especially in regards to judicial matters. It's threatening the fiscal tenability of the counties, and if the counties go bankrupt their power gets ceded to the state government, removing local control. It's a serious threat that most people aren't aware of.

So even if it sounds boring (and probably would be), there is a *LOT* to take away from a county commissioner meeting, @DrewDaPilot
