well I lived in NC for 10 years... very nice people there. I consider it part of the south but haven't been in the deep south much

I was in a suburb near charlotte - didn't see any racism. Big mixture of whites and african americans - intermixing with friends and marriage. I've had african americans defending me against white people before (I'm white)

also I think there are a lot more religious people in the south - which tends to reflect in their decency, politeness, etc. But I haven't been there in a long time

not saying non-religious people can't be good people 🙂
