I didnโt know we were already picking teams.
Ahhhh
Is that the side that will have the toilet paper
Yep
Idk, Iโve got CNN blocked at the network level
Along with most major media news outlets - left and right
Eh, I think most of it was argued in AZ, and it would be the same thing each time.
I think thatโs a pretty big oversimplification... there were a wide variety of BLM riots
Letโs put it up to a vote, PA style
You say โtheyโ as though itโs a single, organized, centralized entity, when that simply isnโt the case.
Some BLM protests were really bad and violent; some were peaceful and boring. Iโm not saying youโre wrong, Iโm just saying itโs too broad
I remember when they rattled a fence for 3 hours then went home with nothing exciting happening.
Idk thereโs a lot of open questions Iโll grant you that
Yeah I think the national guard was brought in pretty quickly - not sure who ordered what
without his kilt*
There was lots of violence at lots of times, I think people are disputing the specifics of instances, timings, and parties
That photo op made me sick
Oooo. I bet they just play the AZ objection on loop while they all go out for dinner
They had the appearance of mainstream support*
The same system that counted ballots also counted lives lost
Yes, that does not mean mainstream support, it means select powerful and rich people support
I think most people were like, โf that Iโm staying insideโ
Idk, I think there are a lot of parallels and double standards. Violence and protests, and storming of capitol buildings during the summer was confined...
I didnโt know that some violence was okay based solely on who may have condoned it.
Colorado got wailed on about 8 times
Colorado capitol*
Phoenix, Seattle, there are like 10 capitol buildings that were stormed and trashed this summer
@SANCTIONED where have you been if you donโt know about this lol
You are conveniently missing my rebuttal of your point. You said you didnโt recall any capitols being stormed over the summer, I gave you a link and several examples.
No problem, I appreciate the response and the honesty
@SANCTIONED I gave you a link to Denverโs capitol being stormed over the summer, here are a few more: https://www.azfamily.com/news/conflict-erupts-between-protesters-at-state-capitol-in-downtown-phoenix/article_9a9c5674-be6c-11ea-9a7a-1bee64ccd4d4.html here is Oregon: https://www.q13fox.com/news/unlawful-assembly-declared-as-protesters-storm-oregon-state-capitol-building
Hahaha I remember when I was with the Democrats about 12 years ago on anti-privacy stuff from Facebook and other major tech corps... anti big business, and Republicans were the ones saying โcompanies can do what they wantโ... Iโm still on the anti tech corps side, against censorship and such, but now those same Democrats are the ones defending big tech. Itโs so weird
So again, youโre okay with violence depending on the reason and party line? Or is violence violence, and should be condemned no matter what?
Iโm just confused about what youโre trying to say, since you seem to be fine with some violent protests but not others.
Yep, that was the bait that you gobbled right up. Suddenly that protest is now bad, I assume?
๐
Iโm saying that when you attack, vandalize, riot, damage, kill, or use any combination of violent methods to convey a point, you should be held accountable. Whether it was during the summer in anti-police demonstrations, or today over election certification.
I... Um... I think Iโve been very clear... I donโt disagree with this at all.
I think youโre carrying on too many conversations, I didnโt disagree with the main point you were making, lol
I was just pointing out that violence at state capitol buildings is nothing new for this country given 2020 events, and itโs not isolated to a particular party or group. I think people just hate capitol buildings.
Yes this is what I understood too
Does anyone else hate how most major news outlets donโt post links to source material
Lol
I donโt really care who the president is, does that make me a bad person?
Actually, I think it gives me more right to complain. Youโre the one who bought into the whole election/democracy system, and implicitly accept the outcome of that system by participating in it. Meaning you have no grounds to complain... I reject the entire system, so I can complain however much I want.
but is it REALLY suffering?
or is it "enjoying"
๐
psh, strike me down and i'll become more powerful than you can possibly imagine
ENRON did a pretty good job of that
It's true, I lived in the stairwell at my college for a semester
Well there's debate about whether it was against state laws... conflict of executive power during time of the pandemic, that's the real question
I believe residence law interpretation is usually mutually exclusive with commercial -- in some definitions it can be both (like running a business out of your home), but other instances it has to be either (e.g., zoned for industrial vs. commercial vs. residential)
well that source should tell you all you need to know
or so the media would have you believe
idk @Maw this isn't my argument, I don't know why I even jumped in here
lol
Hang on I have to clarify one thing - people can and do have short and long term housing in motels and hotels, it's not that uncommon. We see this in the financial industry a lot, when money is moving through accounts tied to certain addresses, it's a flag that gets hit often for money funneling but tends to be legitimate
whether those addresses can be used as voting registration I am not saying anything about - I'm just saying that this is not uncommon across the US
idk, the timing of when counting "stopped" and "started", and the rates of counting varies widely in several states during that period. And the whole thing reeks of a coverup because apparently anyone who even asks a question about it gets thrown into the MAGA pool to die a slow death...
I think it should! I also think you should be allowed to sell your vote. And your goldfishes vote.
and your goldfish
That's my whole point - anomaly does not need malfeasance as an assumption to investigate. We do this in fraud and money laundering all the time - if something looks "off" it gets reviewed, no matter the reason. There's no assumption that it's a crime, but there's still an obligation and desire to review anomalies.
I don't care what Trump thinks or says, and I don't want to be put into the same group as some of those extremists. I think it's completely legitimate to ask "why were things so weird on election night" and have a serious conversation about it, politics and conspiracies not invited.
drives me crazy that anyone who wants an apolitical discussion of election anomalies gets put into that group of "conspiracy trump supporters", lol
(that said, Gina Haspel is totally in Guantanamo)
It was an anomaly - the ballot counting rate dropped from like 5200/hour to 30/hour or something, and in some states it went on for *literally weeks*
I don't get it. Vote counting stops, gets delayed, and in my state in NC we didn't know what the outcome was for 10 days. That's never happened before. And you're saying that's *not* a strange occurrence?
I'm not saying it doesn't have an explanation, I'm saying that I'd like to see the explanation laid out and investigate whether that actually makes sense with data and facts, not be told to shut up and accept it.
Again, you're putting up a straw man here. I DO want those state delays called into question.
They weren't called into question by Trump because, well, they went to Trump.
but I don't care who they went to
I know, but you are responding to my apolitical points ๐
@TaLoN132 I think what you're saying is that yeah, some unusual circumstances happened, and that caused some unusual outcomes, but we can explain why. What I'm saying is that I want to understand the details of what happened before we explain the why, and then see what makes sense. But when anyone asks for details, they get lumped into the Trump conspiracy theories and ignored.
Ah, okay. We can agree to disagree on that interpretation ๐
I don't know how much can really be done, to be honest... unless either a) we enacted a mandatory voting law, or b) we removed secret ballot protections (public ballots). Fraud and uncertainty will always potentially exist in a voluntary secret ballot process
I think it's just the cost of democracy and secret ballots, and one of those costs is that it's very difficult to tell the difference between malfeasance and misfeasance.
It's a price we have to pay to have a good system - that it can't ever be a perfect system
although I'd like changes to the auditing and standardization across the states about digital security and chain of custody
how did he violate it?
yeah, the dropboxes broke chain of custody requirements, no real counter argument there :/ other than it may not have had a material impact
You mean safer as in, COVID?
Idk, I think the warning to people to get out, police contingently could be an enemy, this is a lot closer to a call for violence than Iโve seen in anything else thatโs been called that the last 3 days.
Itโs not explicit but I felt it implies aggressive and possible violent action
I never said it wasnโt under free speech. As an attorney, itโs a very very high bar to have speech revoked for inciting - it has to be imminent, for example. But thatโs not the standard Parler or social media may use.
Oh you werenโt replying to me. Ignore that first comments
๐
Apples standing policies are broader than criminal though. Just a different standard. I donโt disagree with you and Iโm concerned with Apples position here as well, but for different reasons.
@meglide I think thereโs a middle ground between โcriminalโ and โnot liking the contentโ that Apple could stay on - questionable, objectionable, offensive content, for example.
Eg., pornography is not illegal, but Apple does not allow it in apps.
But nude posing, sex therapy, and other content is allowed - just an example of the middle ground
I think they have beef with what the moderation policy moderates. But what I think is a more interesting argument, that I think is stronger for your conclusion, is why did they choose to enforce it NOW?
The timing is uncanny, and to me indicates coordinated effort across what should be the top competitors in the industry. I think itโs one more nail in an antitrust investigation coffin.
Try using TOR
Parlers app is hard to use, UI isnโt great, search is difficult, but they claim not to filter/censor content as much as possible
You really donโt have a phone number generating site for signups like this?
There are several locations where you can get disposable data points for signups, if youโre looking to protect your privacy. ๐ easy google searches
The ones that end up being true
I mean, most of us would call that a concern about keeping your phone number private lol
Do you want to take the red pill or the blue pill? Lol
